• Anyone involved in leasing, eligibility, or compliance in HUD-assisted multifamily housing

It provides essential training aligned with HUD Handbook 4350.3 REV-1, Change 4.

What You’ll Learn

The Basic Occupancy Course follows a practical, step-by-step approach to key occupancy concepts, HUD requirements, and real-world application. You’ll also gain familiarity with recent HUD Notices and relevant Federal Register releases.

The course is organized into six interactive modules:

1. First Things First – Introduction
   Overview of HUD programs, regulatory guidance, and course navigation

2. Eligibility Requirements
   Defining eligibility, student rule, citizenship status, and other qualifiers

3. Application Process
   Application intake, waitlist management, tenant selection plan basics

4. Incomes, Assets, and Allowances
   Determining annual income, asset calculations, and allowable deductions

5. Calculating Rent
   Understanding adjusted income and how it affects tenant rent

6. Certification Process
   Annual recertifications, interim adjustments, and proper documentation

Course Assessments

Each module concludes with a short quiz to help reinforce learning.
At the end of the course, you will complete a final exam consisting of 60 questions.
A score of 70% or higher is required to pass and receive your certificate of completion.
