This course provides an overview of Resident Selection Plans (RSPs) and their role in the administration of HUD-assisted housing. Participants will learn how to develop, implement, and follow a Resident Selection Plan in a manner that is fair, consistent, and compliant with HUD requirements.
Topics covered include HUD-required and recommended plan elements, application and pre-application procedures, waiting list management, screening criteria, applicant rejections, record retention, and fair housing and nondiscrimination responsibilities. By the end of this course, participants will understand why a well-written Resident Selection Plan is essential to effective property management and daily operations.
